The “Prespa Agreement” is invalid.
By Pan. Karafotia*
After all that has been written and happened about Skopje, some points may be useful.
The UN Charter begins with "We the peoples of the United Nations" and Article 2 of the Charter states that: "The Organization is based on the principle of the sovereign equality of all its Members."
The UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Article 21 states: “The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government…”
Article 1 of the Constitution of Greece states: "The foundation of the state is popular sovereignty."
And the supporters of Jerusalem are surprised by asking those who deal with the Skopje issue in general and the "Prespa agreement" in particular, leaders, media, NGOs: With what rationale, with what logic do some (fortunately few) still support it, ignoring the above as and the events that preceded it, while the vast majority characterizes it as "shameful and treacherous"? Is that an exaggeration?
Did the "authorities" respect the popular will, the popular verdict when all the events, rallies of millions (and not just hundreds of thousands as the "authorities" shamelessly claimed), demonstrated the people's opposition to the "agreement"? They simply compromised uncomfortably in a spirit of servility and servility. And was there a genuine agreement in the patchwork of openly or secretly competing ethnicities in Skopje?
Let us briefly recall some important events that marked the disappointing outcome. What did the Greeks in charge here and the Greeks of the Diaspora do when the then unscrupulous "friends" of Greece, the US leaders, forgetting their democratic ideals and their correct reaction to the attempt of Tito and Stalin to create a state of "Macedonia" (Foreign Minister Stetinious), agreed, betraying Greece, to give Skopje the name "Macedonia", which constitutes a usurpation of the ancient, most Greek and glorious name, as is known to those who know History, and as eminent foreign scholars (even Skopjeans, etc.) have written? They retreated, they compromised at the expense of their Homeland (as well as in other national issues). It is known what the Greek leaders of the time did, with exceptions, in the context of a vicious cycle of contradictory statements and actions, although some objective foreigners had warned them. The dramatic statement to the Greek "authorities" of the American, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress LEE HAMILTON is enough to make us realize the tragic mistakes of Greek leaders, media, NGOs, etc.: "YOU COMPROMISED IN A LIGHTNING LIGHT AND WE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO HELP YOU. YOU LEFT US AWAY WITH YOUR CONCESSION"!
What was the dark and unacceptable role of the deplorable Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, and the Greek Representative to the UN, who did not dare, as they should, to propose another name that did not contain the name "Macedonia"? Did they forget that an entire Great Britain retreated over the issue of the Bretagne region in France and was named the United Kingdom? And Greece retreated to a "spurious state"?
Finally, Skopje was admitted to the UN under the name "former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" (fYROM). And the tragic "Prespa agreement" followed, which proved beyond any doubt the tragic compromise, subservience, voluntarism of the then rulers , which the Epaiontes characterize - and rightly so - as "shameful and treacherous". And, unfortunately, the subsequent rulers also compromised and we reached the recent well-organized, provocative event at the Athens Conservatory, and the "fascist" ban on the anti-demonstration of serious NGOs with distinguished members, Ambassadors, Professors, Generals, etc. And - most sadly - the media, without exception, ignored the demonstration! The conclusion to the Greek "wise men"!
As for Skopje itself, an artificial state without strong foundations, without a future, it plays the role of Judas, the provocateur to contribute to the "divide and rule" in the "Flourishing Box", the sad Balkans. And we saw the vicious circle of statements and actions of their leaders, which nullify the "agreement", and which, in any case, must be nullified for all the reasons we mentioned above and according to the opinions of eminent Greek and foreign personalities. Here is Rhodes and here is the "jump" in front of the "cliff"!
"Freedom needs virtue and courage"!
HELLENICISM UNITED NEVER DEFEATED!
